NiallOfficial: I hate my life.

Niall sighed to himself as he deleted that last tweet before hitting ‘send.’ No good would obviously come of that. He looked out the window of the bus.

Despite watching Harry and Brittany get closer and closer, the last few days had actually been quite good to him. To all of them, really. Canada was always a fun visit when they were there. They’d had a relaxing day before the show where they’d got to do a little sightseeing as a group. And the performance that evening had been as energetic as ever. He was sad to leave, but he was eager to get on with the tour.

He was also eager for Brittany to disappear and go on to her own bus, as she was sitting in the entertainment room of theirs cuddling with Harry.

While Zayn, Liam and Louis were engaged in another epic Call of Duty battle, Niall sat on one end of the room fiddling around with his guitar, while Brittany and Harry sat on the other.

It was hard for him to keep his eyes off the two of them as they laughed and talked and kissed. He could barely hear what they were saying, and he wasn’t even sure he wanted to know.

He wanted to ask Brittany if she was going to leave and go back to her own bus before they left for Detroit, but he wasn’t about to be rude. He also wanted to tell them that if they were so insistent on their PDA, then they may as well go back to Harry’s bunk and do it already.

But he wasn’t about to put that idea in Harry’s head. And he certainly didn’t want to witness the sounds of it. It wasn’t like the bus was especially big or anything.

So instead, Niall continued to fiddle around with his guitar and flipped through his songbook looking for something to adequately convey his mood.

Ah, Jeff Buckley. Though the song wasn’t originally his, the arrangement was one of Niall’s favourites for sure. He found himself lost in the music as he artfully strummed the first few notes.

When he was playing guitar he didn’t need to think about Brittany, Harry or the lack of any girl in his own lap. All he needed was the music to make him feel at peace. And feel at peace he did.

Until the voice of an angel came and shattered his world.

“I heard there was a secret chord, that David played and it pleased the Lord, but you don’t really care for music, do you?”

Niall glanced over at her as she smiled at him. He shook his head slightly and continued to play, somewhat surprised and impressed that she actually knew the lyrics.

“Well it goes like this: the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift. The baffled king composing Hallelujah.”

As she sang, Harry just stopped his kissing and flirting and listened. It was clear Brittany was in the right career, as every note she hit was spot on.

“Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah.”

Niall continued to play, thankful for the fact that at least for the moment, Harry had stopped with the show off routine. Whether he meant to do that or not, every time he kissed Brittany in front of them, that’s what Niall felt like.

“Well your faith was strong but you needed proof. You saw her bathing on the roof. Her beauty and the moonlight over through ya. She tied you to her kitchen chair. She broke your throne and she cut your hair. And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah…”

Brittany glanced around as she noticed that everyone had stopped what they were doing. All eyes were on her, and she found it somewhat daunting. She looked over at Niall, who was still playing the guitar and gave him a small smile.

“Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah.”

Niall took her skipping the last few verses of the song as a sign that she was finished. He was somewhat disappointed, but conceded to the fact as he finished up playing.

“That was really great, Britt,” Harry said, kissing her on the cheek.

“Thanks,” Brittany blushed, and again looked over at Niall. “You’re really good, you know.”

Niall shrugged. Brittany’s compliment boosted his ego a little, but at the end of the day it really meant nothing. It wasn’t his bunk she was going back to, after all. No matter how well he played. “Thanks,” he said.

“I wish I could play like that,” Brittany mused, resting her head on Harry’s shoulder. “I’ve always wanted to try, but I decided to go with singing instead.”

“You should learn,” Harry said with a nod. “Then you’d be perfection on stage. Not that you aren’t already.”

Brittany giggled. “You’re sweet.”

Niall wanted to gag.

“Hey!” Harry said, glancing over at his friend. “Niall could teach you.”

Niall was sure his eyes grew three times their size. That sounded like a wonderfully horrible idea. “Oh, no,” he shook his head, trying to find some way out of that situation. “I’m really not a good teacher.”

“Rubbish,” Harry said. “I’m sure you’re fine. Besides, Brittany’s smart. She can pick it up. What do you think, Britt?”

Brittany grinned and looked over at Niall. “I think it would be fun.”

Niall sighed, knowing he was going to regret this. Still, he couldn’t resist the temptation to spend more time with Brittany. If nothing else, at least they could be friends. “I guess I could.”

Brittany gave him that bright smile of hers, but of course, to show her gratitude, she kissed Harry. Niall rolled his eyes in annoyance as he looked away. What had Harry done? He wasn’t the one who was going to apparently teach Brittany how to play the guitar. In fact, Niall was certain that Harry didn’t even know one chord.

He sighed to himself, knowing that less good would probably come of this than posting tweets filled with self pity. At least those would probably serve to get someone in his bed.

But he was sure being Brittany’s mentor would just prove to be pointless.
